You have already seen it. The hard part is no longer noticing the drift. The hard part is what noticing now requires of you.
Clarity used to feel like a gift. Lately, it feels like a weight. Once you can see where the culture is pulling the Church, you cannot pretend you can't, and the people around you who still cannot see are no longer strangers. They are your brother, your coworker, your own children.
Education: The state is fighting over whether God's words may hang on a schoolroom wall, while a generation grows up never told those words were meant for the heart.
Government: A township spent years using permits and fines to push a sixty-year-old church out of its own building, and called it zoning.
Church: The young are walking back through the doors their parents quietly stopped using, and most of the Church has not noticed the dawn.
This is not a news cycle. It is a test of sight. And sight you refuse to act on is sight you will lose.
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING
Education: Texas Orders the Ten Commandments Into Every Classroom
On April 21, 2026, a sharply divided federal appeals court, the Fifth Circuit, voted 9 to 8 to uphold Texas Senate Bill 10, which requires a copy of the Ten Commandments to be displayed in every public school classroom in the state. The ruling reversed lower courts that had blocked the law and set up a likely showdown at the Supreme Court. Texas is the largest state to attempt such a mandate.

Government: A Michigan Township Moves to Shut Down a Church
In June 2026, First Liberty Institute filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of The Tarrington Church after Windsor Township, Michigan, acted to restrict worship services, Bible studies, weddings, and other gatherings inside a building that had been used as a house of worship for nearly sixty years. The township issued a cease-and-desist letter calling the church an illegal event venue in a residential zone, levied $4,500 in fines over three weddings, and limited worship to Sunday mornings with no more than 60 people, with every event ending by 9 p.m. Attorneys say the restrictions have all but foreclosed the church's ability to function.

Church: The Young Are Coming Back
New research from Barna Group, released as part of its 2026 State of the Church initiative, finds that for the first time in decades, younger adults, Gen Z and Millennials, are now the most regular churchgoers, outpacing the older generations who long formed the backbone of attendance. Reporting this spring notes young men in particular returning to historic, demanding expressions of the faith. Barna is careful to add that even these younger adults still attend less than half the time, so the turn is real but unfinished.

THE WORD
"So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me."
— Ezekiel 33:7
The watchman was not given the wall because he was braver than the city. He was given the wall because he could see. And the moment he could see, the safety of everyone behind him became his burden. To see the sword coming and stay silent was not humility. It was guilt.
This is the part the modern Church keeps trying to escape. We treat discernment as a private collection, a set of right opinions we hold quietly so no one accuses us of being harsh. But God never gave sight as a trophy. He gave it as an assignment. The same chapter that comforts you with how clearly you see is the chapter that holds you responsible for who you warn.
And the watchman sees both directions. He names the sword, the law reduced to a wall hanging, the church squeezed out by paperwork. But he also sees the dawn, the sons and daughters walking back toward the gate. To see clearly and say nothing is to waste the very thing God trusted you to carry.
THE DECISION
There is a cost to clarity. To act on what you see is to risk the comfort of the people who would rather you stay quiet, and to step toward the ones still asleep instead of away from them.
"Whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."

You cannot unsee it now. You know which way the culture is pulling. You know the name of at least one person it is pulling under. The knowledge is already yours. The only thing still in question is what you will do with it.
Neutrality was never the watchman's option. A watchman who sees and does not sound the trumpet has not stayed neutral. He has chosen.
Silence is also an answer.
THE CHARGE
Sound the trumpet.
Not from a distance, and not into the air. To the one face you already pictured while you read this. The brother who is drifting. The friend who calls compromise wisdom. The child who has never once been handed the words.
Who needs to hear this? Put the book in their hands.
If you keep your sight to yourself, you will not stay a watchman. You will become one more person on the wall with his eyes closed.
You were not given sight to keep it.
